James Murphy
Owner, Director of Training
James A. Murphy III, owner of Criminal Justice Professionals Training and Consulting, LLC, boasts over 30 years of security expertise and 24 years as a New York State Peace Officer. Retiring as Lieutenant Commander of Operational Services from the Canisius College Department of Public Safety, James is a seasoned public safety veteran. James possesses a proven track record in training law enforcement staff and community members, alongside an impressive service and public speaking background.
James is certified as a general topics and firearms instructor, healthcare/related life-saving skills and mental health instructor, evidence and latent print expert, crime prevention specialist, field training officer, and EMT among other certifications, by the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services/Municipal Police Training Council. Certified in numerous police disciplines by the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services, James has 16 years of experience as a police instructor, including previously guest teaching at Erie County Central Police Services Training Academy. He developed and led Crime Prevention Programs for Canisius College and is a licensed Armed Security Guard and Instructor in New York.
James is a lifetime member of the Crime Prevention Association of Western New York having served as President, Vice President, and Trustee. He also is a lifetime member of the New York State Crime Prevention Coalition having served as Western New York Regional Representative. Alongside being a vital member and past executive of regional crime prevention associations, James runs his public safety training and consulting firm. He currently teaches security at Niagara County Community College for the Workforce Development Program and serves as Director of Training for various WNY law enforcement agencies.
